Britt Watwood is passionate about online instruction and supports faculty who are shifting their instruction online. He brings to this position sixteen years of online teaching experience as well as five years experience as Director of Online Learning at Gwinnett Technical College in Georgia. He designs, develops and delivers workshops to introduce instructors to effective pedagogical practices that support teaching in blended or fully online learning environments. He guides faculty in the design or redesign and development of learning goals, content and instructional strategies for web enhanced, blended and fully online courses. He also provides consultations for schools, departments and faculty involved in online course and program development. Finally, he researches and disseminates best practices in online teaching and learning. As an adjunct for VCU School of Education, he uses his course as a test bed for online instructional practices.
His education doctorate is from University of Nebraska, while his education masters degree is from Old Dominion University. His bachelor degree is from the U.S. Naval Academy, and he retired from the Navy as a Commander after 22 years of service.
