This workshop is designed to help faculty members think about the nature and purposes of a teaching portfolio. In addition to hitting the job market and preparing for promotion and tenure, faculty can benefit from the critical reflection that often accompanies the development of a teaching portfolio. In addition to examining the role of one’s teaching philosophy as an organizing theme, participants will learn about the kinds of materials that could be included in a teaching portfolio. Electronic portfolios will also be showcased.
By the end of this session, you should be able to
- Identify a range of functions a teaching portfolio can serve.
- Identify a range of materials that can serve as evidence of one’s development as a teacher.
- Recognize the importance of organization and presentation as they pertain to how you represent your teaching practice.
